Singing legend Vani Jayaram passes away: mykollywood.com’s heartfelt condolences

Veteran singer Vani Jayaram, who was recently honoured with the Padma Bhushan, passed away at her residence in Chennai on Saturday. She was 78.

Vani started her career in the early 1970s and continued singing for over five decades. She recorded over 10,000 songs for Indian movies in various languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Gujarati, among many others.

She was honoured with the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 1975, 1980 and 1991.

Vani Jayaram has sung over 10,000 songs including devotionals and private albums. She has also performed several solo concerts across the world. 

She made her debut through the Hindi feature film ‘Guddi’ in 1971. 

She recorded three songs for the film and soon became a household name in India. 

Later, she shifted back to Chennai and continued to give back-to-back hits in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam industries.
