Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, who is popular in the south too, has donated Rs 21 lakh to PM-Cares Fund. She has made this donation along with her husband Raj Kundra.
She posted: “For humanity, our country, & fellow citizens that need us; now is the time, let’s do our bit.@TheRajKundra & I pledge 21 lacs to @narendramodi ji‘s PM-CARES Fund. Every drop in the ocean counts, so I urge you all to help fight this situation.#IndiaFightsCorona @PMOIndia.”
This was her response to a tweet by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which he said, “It is my appeal to my fellow Indians, Kindly contribute to the PM-CARES Fund. This Fund will also cater to similar distressing situations, if they occur in the times ahead. This link has all important details about the fund.”
Actor Akshay Kumar wrote: “This is that time when all that matters is the lives of our people. And we need to do anything and everything it takes. I pledge to contribute Rs 25 crores from my savings to @narendramodi ji’s PM-CARES Fund. Let’s save lives, Jaan hai toh jahaan hai. 🏻”
Varun Dhawan wrote, “I pledge to contribute 30 lakhs to the PM CARE fund. We will over come this. Desh hai toh hum hain.”
Lauding Akshay, the PM wrote: “Great gesture @akshaykumar. Let’s keep donating for a healthier India.” Replying to Varun, Modi said, “Well said and well done @Varun_dvn! #IndiaFightsCorona”.
