Minister comes to Meera Chopra’s support, directs DGP to act against NTR Junior’s fans

It looks like Meera Chopra aka Nila is not ready to leave the issue of NTR Junior’s fans abusing her on social media. She has urged both Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy and Telangana minister KT Ramarao to ensure the perpetrators get punished.

She posted: “@hydcitypolice @CyberCrimeshyd @ysjagan @NCWIndia i need to report this account too.. this is excessive abusing. They are not stopping after an fir too. Kindly take action against this person!”

She also wrote: “@KTRTRS @RaoKavitha ive been abused of gangrape, acidattack, abused, cyberbullied and sl*tshamed by your state. @hydcitypolice has filed an fir and i hope for the safety of women this will investigated thoroughly.”

KTR replied to her: “Ma’m, I have requested @TelanganaDGP and @CPHydCity to take stern action as per law based on your complaint.” And she replied: “Thanks sir, it really means a lot. This is very important for women safety. These people should not be left free to do crimes on women!”

Hyderabad police have registered a case against fans of NTR Junior for abusing and threatening her with gang rape and acid attacks.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police K V N Prasad, a case has been registered under Indian Penal Code’s sections 506 (criminal intimidation), and 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman) and section 67 of the Information Technology Act. He added that the process of identifying the accused was underway.

Meera said she recently had a chat session called – #AskMeera – with her fans on Twitter in which she was asked about her favourite actor from South cinema.

She said she was a bigger fan of Mahesh Babu than Junior NTR after which she started receiving abusive messages on Twitter.

“I conducted Ask Meera’ session on Twitter and a fan asked me about my favourite actor from the south film industry. I said Mahesh Babu. Then somebody asked if I liked Junior NTR, and I said I don’t know him and I’m not a fan. That’s it.

As soon as I said that, I was bombarded with abuses, murder threats, rape threats, character assassination and threats against my parents. Some morphed my face with porn actors. I’ve got close to 30,000 abusive tweets so far,” she said in a statement.
