Several talented actors have returned to Kollywood after a long break. Let’s take a look at some notable actors who have made a comeback.
Arvind Swamy:
Arvind Swamy made his film debut at the age of 21 in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Thalapathi’, in which he had a supporting part.
He has appeared in a number of critically acclaimed films, including ‘Roja’, ‘Bombay’, and ‘Minsaara Kanavu’. With the 2015 film ‘Thani Oruvan’, directed by Mohan Raja, the actor made a triumphant comeback in Kollywood. ‘Thani Oruvan’ earned rave reviews from critics and fans alike.
Ramki:
Ramki had played numerous leading roles in the 1990s, but he hadn’t been in front of the camera in a long time.
During his period, he was well-liked by the Tamil and Telugu audiences. The 59-year-old actor made a comeback a few years ago with films like ‘Maasani’ and ‘Biriyani’. He last appeared in the film ‘Vettai Naai’, which was released on February 26, 2021.
Karthik:
In the 1980s, Karthik was the effervescent romantic hero at the pinnacle of his acting career.
His ability to modulate his speech was well admired. Mani Ratnam brought him back to the big screen for the film ‘Raavanan’. After a brief hiatus, he reappeared in ‘Anegan’ and ‘Thaana Serndha Koottam’. The actor is presently filming ‘Andhagan’, a Tamil version of the popular Bollywood film ‘Andhadhun’.
Prashanth:
Several years ago, Prashanth was one of Tamil cinema’s most popular stars. ‘Sembaruthi’, ‘Jeans’, ‘Kannedhirey Thondrinal’, ‘Jodi’, and ‘Winner’ are just a few of the films in which the handsome actor has starred.
Fans fell in love with the actor. However, as time went, he lost his acting form. Despite this, the actor’s fan following remains strong, and ‘Andhagan’ promises to be a great comeback for him.
Aisha Kopikar:
Isha Koppikar is back to Tamil cinema after two decades. Last seen in Vijayakanth’s ‘Narasimha’ (2001), and popular for her outings in ‘En Swasa Kaatre’ and ‘Nenjinile’, she will soon be seen in Sivakarthikeyan’s ‘Ayalaan’.
Jyothika:
Jyothika made her acting debut in the 1999 film ‘Poovellam Kettuppar’, which she co-starred in alongside Suriya. She went on to become one of the top actresses in the Kollywood as a result of her super popular performances.
However, after marrying her boyfriend, actor Suriya, in 2009, the actress took a break from acting. After giving birth to two children, the actress resurfaced as a leading lady in the film ’36 Vayadhinile’.
Kangana Ranaut:
Kangana Ranaut made her Kollywood acting debut with Jayam Ravi in the action drama ‘Dhaam Dhoom’.
She then went on to perform more Bollywood films. With the biopic ‘Thalaivi’, directed by AL Vijay, the brilliant actress is making a comeback to Kollywood. The film is based on the life of J Jayalalithaa, former Chief Minister of Tamilnadu.
