After 18 years of marriage, actor Dhanush announced his separation from wife Aishwaryaa, shocking millions of fans and cinephiles. However, this is not the first time that a couple from Kollywood have announced their divorce.

Here is a list of Kollywood couples who divorced after several years of marriage.

Samantha – Naga Chaitanya:

The couple dated for a long time before tying the knot in a grand ceremony in 2017 in Goa. They became one of the power couples in the south film industry. The pair set major couple goals for fans. However, rumours of their troubled marriage began to surface last year and the two then took to social media on October 2, 2021, to announce their separation. The news came as a shock for many of their fans.

Aravind Swamy – Gayathri Ramamurthy:

Aravind Swamy married Gayathri Ramamurthy in 1994, and they had a daughter and a son together. However, after 16 years of marriage, they decided to split up and filed for divorce in 2010. Aravind Swamy assumed custody of the children and was responsible for their upbringing. In 2012, the actor married Aparna Mukerjee.

Prabhudeva – Ramlath:

Prabhu Deva married Ramlath in 1995 with their families’ blessings. Later, Prabhu Deva’s relationship with a well-known actress sparked controversy, prompting Ramlath to file a family court petition against him. Following this, Prabhu Deva divorced Ramlath in 2011.

Prakash Raj-Lalitha Kumari:

When Prakash Raj was on the rise as an actor, he married Tamil actress Lalitha Kumari in 1994. Prakash Raj’s affair with a dancer caused a rift in the partnership, and in 2009, the actor divorced Lalitha Kumari and married Pony Verma in 2010.

Parthiban – Seetha:

In 1990, Parthiban married Seetha, his co-star, and they have two daughters and a son. The pair divorced in 2001 for personal reasons. They do, however, live as friends and have rejoined as parents for their two daughters’ weddings.
