After ‘Nadigayar Thilakam’ (‘Mahanati’) which won her National Award, Keerthy Suresh is pinning big hopes on ‘Penguin’. The film produced by Karthik Subbaraj and directed by Eashwar Kaarthic is directly releasing on Amazon Prime.
Says the actress, “Penguin is not just a thriller, I would call it as an emotional thriller. My character’s name is Rhythm in the film. She is not only a mother but also a pregnant woman in the film”.
According to her, “The three-hour narration from Eashwar Kaarthic was thoroughly impressive and immediately gave my nod. Of course, Karthik Subbaraj’s production is another reason for accepting the film.”
“Being a newcomer, Eashwar completed the film in 36 days, it talks volumes about his capability,” the ‘Sarkar’ and ‘Rajini Murugan’ actress said.
On the film’s release on OTT platform, she said, “Yes, I would be missing the excitement in watching the film along with the audiences in theaters. But now, the OTT release has also given a good reach to the film. We should always see the positive side in difficult times. At least, I have a release now”.
Keerthy, who is staying with her family in Kerala due to lockdown, said, “After a long time, I’m continuously staying for more than one and half a month with my family in Kerala. After school, I didn’t get an opportunity to spend this much time with them. I’m eating healthy food, started doing yoga and leading a healthy life now”.
She added: “Earlier I used to learn violin but due to busy shooting commitments, I couldn’t pursue it. Now, due to the lockdown, I’ve started practicing the instrument again. I’ve been listening to a lot of scripts and also penning my own script now.”
“Industry feels that actors should reduce their remuneration by twenty to thirty percent. I’m ready for it. For my upcoming films, I’ve reduced my salary,” she also said.
“Earlier, I used to give silver coins to my crew. Now, I can afford gold coins and I also think that all these people are working hard for my film so gifting them with some memorable thing is my responsibility,” she said.
