The long-standing legal battle over Vijay’s final film, ‘Jana Nayagan’, reached a major turning point.
The Madras High Court officially permitted the producers, KVN Productions, to withdraw their writ petition against the CBFC.
Justice P.T. Asha passed the order after the production house expressed their intent to follow the official review process rather than continuing the litigation.
By withdrawing the case, the makers have agreed to let the film be reviewed by the CBFC Revision Committee, a move intended to break the deadlock that stalled its January release.
The committee is expected to provide a verdict within the next 20 days, addressing concerns regarding scenes allegedly impacting religious harmony and the portrayal of the Indian armed forces.
If the certificate is granted swiftly, trade circles speculate a potential theatrical release in the first week of March.
