Officials from the Income Tax (I-T) department on Wednesday entered NLC India’s campus in Neyveli and questioned Vijay, who was shooting for his upcoming film ‘Master’ there.
They also asked him to return to Chennai to aid their investigation. Vijay’s questioning came hours after I-T sleuths raided the premises of AGS Entertainment and producer-financier Anbu Chezhian across Tamil Nadu. The searches were conducted in connection with ‘Bigil’.
It is said raids were also conducted at Vijay’s properties. I-T officials were quoted as saying by PTI: “Actor Vijay is being questioned in connection with an alleged tax evasion case linked to AGS Cinemas.”
Raids were conducted at the properties of AGS Cinemas and Anbu Chezhiyan. The search operations were carried out at about 20 locations including the residence and office of Kalpathi S Aghoram, the chief of AGS, and at the screens owned by his group.
