Karthik Subbaraj who has been doing back to back movies with big stars has revealed that he wants to work on a relatively small independent film with a new set of actors so that he does not have any box office expectations on the same.
He even revealed the plan to release the film in film festivals across the globe, and then release it in theatres, one year after the same.
He said, “After Jigarthanda DoubleX, I thought of making an independent film. I want to send it to film festivals and release it a year later in cinema halls.”
Karthik Subbaraj added, “The script is ready for it, but then Retro happened. I want to tell a story without worrying about box office performance. In the case of Retro, I had a responsibility. It involved a huge budget and a star hero. My independent film will be made on a small budget with new artists. It doesn’t need known faces. I want to show the other side of me. I don’t know when it will start, though.”
Karthik Subbaraja’s recent release ‘Retro’ starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles is doing well at the box office.
