Gautham Karthik’s ‘August 16 1947’ release plans revealed

The teaser of Gautham Karthik’s upcoming flick ‘August 16 1947’ was released last year and was received well by the audience.

Sharing the teaser, Simbu posted, “A fight for freedom, a force against oppression! Independence Day special, here’s the teaser of #August16_1947.”

Directed by NS Ponkumar, ‘August 16 1947’ is a period saga starring Gautham Karthik and debutante Revathy in the lead roles.

Now the makers have announced that the movie will be released on 7 April, 2023.

Produced by AR Murugadoss, the period drama is touted to be a pan-India film.

The film, which was shot at locations in Tamil Nadu, is currently in post-production.
