Over the span of a decade, we have come across many TV celebrities achieving great success in their journey to the silver screen. Kollywood too has seen a lot of such transitions, both from actors who made a name for themselves on the small screen and those whose TV careers gained spotlight after they became recognisable film actors. Let us take a look at some of the young actresses from small screen who have become a part of the silver screen.

Priya Bhavani Shankar:

Priya’s first recognition was as a television news presenter at the Tamil news channel Puthiya Thalaimurai. She also worked as a serial actress in Star Vijay Television’s ‘Kalyanam Mudhal Kadhal Varai’. In 2017, she made her film debut with Meyaadha Maan opposite Vaibhav and went on to act in several movies. At present she is awaiting the release of ‘Hostel’ starring opposite Ashok Selvan

Vani Bhojan:

Vani Bhojan made her debut in Vijay TV’s ‘Aaha’ and Jaya TV’s ‘Maya’. In 2013, she was cast in the Sun TV serial ‘Deivamagal’ in the leading role which gained her a lot of fan following. In 2020, she debuted in Tamil film Oh My Kadavule opposite Ashok Selvan. She is part of several movies including one with Bharath and another with Vidharth. She has also signed two web series with Arya.

Chaitra Reddy:

Chaitra Reddy is well known for her role in serial ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’. Following this she is playing the titular role in ‘Kayal’. She made her Tamil television debut with ‘Kalyanam Mudhal Kadhal Varai’ replacing Priya Bhavani Shankar. Her role in Ajith starrer ‘Valimai’ is much appreciated by all. It is said that she has got several new film offers.

Shivani Narayanan:

Shivani Narayanan made her television debut in 2016 in Pagal Nilavu as Sneha Arjun. Then she appeared as a guest in Saravanan Meenatchi 3 in which she played the role of Gayathri. In 2020, she participated in the Indian reality show Bigg Boss 4 Tamil. The actress has now bagged an important role in Vadivelu’s comeback film ‘Naai Sekar Return’ and is also part of Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vikram’.
