Ajith Kumar’s film ‘Good Bad Ugly’ has been taken down from Netflix after the Madras High Court issued an interim injunction against the film’s producers, Mythri Movie Makers.
The order came after legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja filed a copyright infringement suit against the production house.
Ilaiyaraaja’s legal notice claimed that his songs “Otha Rubayum Tharen” from Nattupura Pattu, “Ilamai Idho Idho” from Sakalakala Vallavan, and “En Jodi Manja Kuruvi” from ‘Vikram’ were used in the film without his authorization.
The court granted the injunction after the production house’s reply to Ilaiyaraaja’s notice was deemed “bald” and lacking specific details on how they obtained the rights to the songs. The film will remain off the streaming platform until the court provides further direction.
