Vijay Antony’s decision to sacrifice 25 per cent of his salary for all his upcoming three films, since the cinema industry is badly hit by the impact of coronavirus pandemic, is being welcomed by producers and fans.
Producers have urged other actors to follow Vijay Antony and accept pay cuts, at least for their next few films. Actor Kayal Devaraj posted: “படத்தில் நடிக்க வாங்கும் சம்பளத்தின் பெரும்பகுதியை குறைப்பதற்கு முதன்முதலில் முன்வந்த #VijayAntony க்கு பாராட்டுகளும், வாழ்த்துகளும்.@vijayantony @mrsvijayantony.”
A social media user called Venkatesh English Professor wrote: “@vijayantony to come forward & accept 25% salary reduction for three of his films, worth Rs.1 crore each, releasing this year. It’s a pioneering step by a leading artiste. May his tribe increase for the welfare of Tamil Cinema . Kudos to you sir.#VijayAntony.”

At present, the music composer-actor-producer is busy with movies including ‘Thamezharasan’, ‘Agni Siragugal’, and ‘Khaki’.
