– Review

‘Yaathisai’ is the story of an underdog soldier from a “lower-rung” clan, comprising mere hundreds in number, aspiring to defeat a Pandiyan monarch ruling from the castle of the defeated Cholas.
Kodhi, a warrior from the Einar clan, goes on an impossible mission to defeat the Pandiyan king Ranadheeran to recapture the Chola castle.
Was Kodhi succesful, what happens after that forms the rest of the story.
One of the major positives of the movie is the authenticity and the research work that has been carried out by the director Dharani Rasendran.
The attention to detail is very impressive. Right from the clothings to dialects, the movie is spot on and is impressive. While the plot is simple, the screenplay is what makes it engaging.
The performances are top-notch with some good characterisations. Seyon, Mithran and Rajalakshmi in prominent characters have given their best for their respective roles. Being debutants, they have done an excellent job by making the audience easily connect with the characters.
Music by Chakravarthy is impressive and suits with the theme and the period of the movie well. Akilesh Katamuthu’s camerawork is impressive and has captured the proceedings in an effcetive manner that will keep the audience engrossed.
