A decent crime thriller

Aval Peyar Rajini

– Review

Chennai-based IT professional Saiju Kurup gets murdered under strange circumstances while returning home with his wife, Namitha Pramod. The accused is a mysterious woman, or a ‘ghost’, as described by the witnesses.
The film’s plot revolves around Kalidas Jayaram, Namitha’s brother, who rejects the police’s version of Saiju’s supposed affair with this woman as the reason for the murder and is determined to find the truth.
Was Kalidas able to find the truth forms the crux of the story.
Directed by Vinil Scariah Varghese, the film has all the usual elements of a thriller but is presented in a more appealing way.
The movie starts in a spooky manner and manages to hold the attention of the audience till the very end.
The storytelling is what sets apart this movie from the rest in this genre.
Kalidas has managed to convey the emotions of his character in an effective manner. The entire first half is focussed on Kalidas and he has carried the proceedings in a convincing manner.
Namitha Pramod is good in her role and so is Saiju Kurup. Rest of the cast including Poo Ramu, Priyanka Sai, Karunakaran have all done their part well.
Cinematography by RR Vishnu is impressive and adds to the eerie element in the film. Music by 4 Musics gels well with the theme of the movie.
Rating: 3.5/5
