The Telugu Film Industry has come to a standstill as the Telugu Film Industry Employees’ Federation (TFIEF) has declared an indefinite strike from today, August 4.
The strike comes after a long-standing dispute over wage revisions, with the Federation demanding a 30% hike for its workers, a demand that has been rejected by the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, which reportedly offered only a 5% increase.
The TFIEF, representing over 10,000 daily wage workers across 24 categories, has stated that no member will report for shoots unless producers send a formal letter agreeing to the revised pay structure.
This widespread halt will impact numerous film and web series productions, including both big-budget and smaller projects. While negotiations have been ongoing for months, with the previous wage cycle expiring on June 30, the lack of a resolution has led to this drastic step.
