Fresh details have emerged regarding Superstar Rajinikanth’s next project, tentatively titled ‘Thalaivar 173’ . Produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI), the film is officially set to go on floors in April 2026.
The project is directed by Cibi Chakravarthy of ‘Don’ fame, with Anirudh returning to compose the music. The script was reportedly locked earlier this month, and the film carries the tagline: “Every family has a hero.” This collaboration marks a historic reunion of the two biggest icons of Tamil cinema—Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan—and is currently eyeing a grand Pongal 2027 theatrical release.
Casting calls for the film are currently underway in Chennai and Mumbai, as the story reportedly requires a massive ensemble of actors from across India.
Rumors suggest that Kamal Haasan might make a significant cameo appearance, fulfilling a decades-long wish of fans to see the two titans share the screen in a modern-day cinematic setup.
