Legal trouble for Dhanush: Petition filed to ban ‘Kara’

Just ahead of its grand theatrical release, Dhanush’s gritty survival drama ‘Kara’ has run into a legal hurdle.
A petition has been filed in the Madras High Court seeking a ban on the film’s release, scheduled for April 30, 2026.
The petitioner alleges that certain sequences in the film, which is set against the backdrop of the 1990s Gulf War, misrepresent historical events and could potentially hurt the sentiments of a specific community.

The High Court is expected to hear the plea today. The team at Wunderbar Films and director Vignesh Raja have remained confident, stating that the film is a work of fiction inspired by real-world survival stories and has already been cleared by the Censor Board with a U/A certificate.

Fans are closely watching the court’s verdict, as the film has already seen massive advance bookings across the globe.
