Actress Sreeleela has confirmed that she is lending her own voice to her character in the highly-anticipated Tamil period drama, ‘Parasakthi,’ marking a significant personal challenge for her Kollywood debut.
The film, directed by Sudha Kongara (known for Soorarai Pottru) and starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead, is a historical drama reportedly set in the 1960s against the backdrop of the anti-Hindi imposition agitations.
Production house Dawn Pictures confirmed the news via social media, stating Sreeleela has started dubbing for her portions.
While the actress has primarily worked in Telugu cinema, where her native Telugu/American-influenced accent has occasionally been a point of discussion, her decision to use her own voice for a complex Tamil dialect role is considered a major risk and a sign of her commitment to the character’s authenticity.
The film, also starring Atharvaa and Ravi Mohan, is slated for a grand Pongal release on January 14.
