Sai Pallavi reveals why she turned to prayer before taking on Goddess Sita in ‘Ramayana’

Actress Sai Pallavi has spoken about the faith and introspection that guided her as she prepared to portray Maa Sita in the upcoming epic ‘Ramayana’. The actress revealed that she approached the character with a sense of surrender, hoping to understand the wisdom associated with the revered figure rather than relying solely on her usual acting methods.

Pallavi shared these thoughts during her appearance on the popular television show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. She was joined by co-stars Ranbir Kapoor and Ravi Dubey, with the conversation focusing on their experiences of working on the much-anticipated film.

During the interaction, Bachchan asked the actors about their initial feelings when they were offered their respective roles. Inviting Pallavi to speak first, he expressed curiosity about how the performers had approached their characters.

Explaining her perspective, Pallavi said she typically thinks about what she can bring to a role. However, playing Sita made her reconsider that approach. Instead of concentrating only on what she could contribute to the character, she began thinking about what the experience might teach her and the knowledge she could gain from portraying such an iconic figure.

The actress explained that she wanted to approach the role without allowing her existing assumptions to influence her interpretation. She chose to remain receptive to the character’s deeper meaning, placing her trust in prayer and faith.

Pallavi also spoke about her desire to keep her mind open during the process, allowing herself to explore the role with sincerity and humility. For her, the experience was an opportunity to learn rather than simply recreate a familiar portrayal.

Bachchan appreciated her thoughtful response and commended the perspective she shared during the discussion.

With ‘Ramayana’ attracting considerable attention for its ambitious scale and retelling of the Indian epic, Pallavi’s reflections provide a glimpse into her preparation for one of the story’s most significant characters. Her emphasis on prayer, openness and personal growth underscores the importance she places on approaching the role with respect.
