Karthi’s long-delayed political comedy, ‘Vaa Vaathiyaar’, is finally poised for a theatrical release this Pongal (January 14, 2026).
The film had previously faced significant setbacks after the Madras High Court stalled its release due to an unpaid debt of Rs 21.78 crore by producer K.E. Gnanavel Raja.
However, recent reports confirm that these financial and legal obstacles have been resolved, allowing the team to secure a festive release slot.
Directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, the film has already received its U/A censor certificate and features a soundtrack by Santhosh Narayanan.
It is expected to fill the void left by other major releases and capitalize on the holiday season, bringing Karthi back to the big screen in a unique, satirical role.
The story follows a devoted MGR fan who raises his grandson as the reincarnation of the legendary leader, leading to a clash of ideals.
Supporting roles are played by a powerhouse ensemble including Krithi Shetty, Sathyaraj, and Rajkiran.
