Kamal Haasan refuses to apologise, postpones ‘Thug Life’ release in Karnataka

Kamal Haasan’s production house, Raaj Kamal Films International, informed the Karnataka High Court that the actor would hold a dialogue with Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) over his recent comment about Kannada, which has now become controversial.

The Karnataka High Court rapped the actor over his recent controversial statement during a movie promotion that the Kannada language was born out of Tamil.

The High Court later also said that Kamal Haasan’s statement stirred a hornets’ nest and led to unrest in Karnataka. There may be many languages, but the country is one, the Karnataka high court said.

The actor-politician had moved the Karnataka high court seeking release of his movie ‘Thug Life’.

In the High Court, Kamal Haasan’s lawyer said that Kamal Haasan has replied to the letter received from the Film Chambers demanding an apology.

The court also read that letter and said that in this letter he has given clarification, but has not talked about the apology.

On this, Kamal Haasan’s lawyer said that he does not want to release the film in Karnataka right now; he will decide this after talking to the Film Chambers. After which, the court postponed the case till June 10.
