‘Jana Nayagan’ standoff: Re-audit to decide the film’s fate

The ongoing certification battle for Vijay’s farewell film, ‘Jana Nayagan’, is reaching a critical tipping point.

After a scheduled screening on March 9 was postponed due to a committee member’s illness, the CBFC Revising Committee is reportedly set for a final re-audit tomorrow, March 18, 2026.

The production house, KVN Productions, has been embroiled in a legal and administrative row over 20 minutes of allegedly controversial footage that the board wants to be cut.

If the certification is granted following tomorrow’s review, the makers are expected to announce a release date immediately, potentially targeting a window just after the Tamil Nadu state elections in late April.
