The much-awaited ‘Jailer 2’ has found itself at the centre of a certification controversy ahead of its theatrical release, but Superstar Rajinikanth’s publicist has now stepped in to dismiss the report doing the rounds.
A recent report claimed that Rajinikanth had asked the makers to pursue a U/A certificate for the sequel instead of an A certificate, reportedly because of concerns over the film’s violent content.
However, publicist Riaz K Ahmed has rejected the claim. Responding to the report on social media, he said the information was untrue and indicated that official updates about ‘Jailer 2’ would come directly from the production house according to its planned schedule.
The clarification comes at a time when anticipation surrounding the Nelson Dilipkumar directorial is steadily building. The sequel brings Rajinikanth back as Muthuvel Pandian and reunites the superstar with director Nelson and composer Anirudh, following the success of the 2023 blockbuster.
The makers have kept much of the story under wraps, while the promotional material has already generated considerable interest among fans. Vinayakan’s Varman is once again part of the narrative, while the sequel expands the ensemble with names including Mohanlal and Vijay Sethupathi.
Ramya Krishnan and Mirnaa are also returning to the franchise, with Jatin Sarna and Suraj Venjaramoodu among the other actors associated with the project. The film is currently scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 15, 2026.
For now, the makers have not officially revealed the film’s final censor certification. With Rajinikanth’s team denying the latest report, fans will have to wait for an official announcement from Sun Pictures.
