Dulquer Salmaan praises Kathir’s effortless performance

Dulquer Salmaan has heaped praise on his co-star Kathir, describing him as a naturally gifted performer and admitting that he has long admired the actor’s work.

Speaking at the Chennai pre-release event of ‘I’m Game’, Dulquer said he was particularly impressed by Kathir’s ability to deliver performances that feel both restrained and intense.

Dulquer recalled watching Kathir’s work and said the actor’s performances often appeared completely natural, without any visible effort. He also praised Kathir’s portrayal of a cricket team captain in the upcoming film.

Kathir had previously revealed that he had very little experience playing cricket and had only played the sport occasionally during his school years. He had jokingly questioned whether director Nahas Hidhayath was taking too big a risk by casting him as the captain of a cricket team.

Responding to those concerns, Dulquer assured Kathir that his cricket performance in the film was convincing and praised him for making the character believable.

Kathir had also joked during the event that he was “retiring” from cricket after completing the film. Explaining the comment, he said he felt he could not surpass what he had achieved in ‘I’m Game’.

The actor recalled his reaction when Nahas first narrated the script. Given his limited cricket background, Kathir said he was surprised that the filmmaker had entrusted him with such an important sporting role.

He even asked the director whether he was genuinely comfortable casting him as a cricket captain. Kathir said filmmakers could certainly take risks, but jokingly suggested that Nahas had taken that courage to an entirely different level. Directed by Nahas Hidhayath, ‘I’m Game’ is an action entertainer featuring Dulquer Salmaan and Kathir in prominent roles.
