Producer K E Gnanavel Raja recently gifted a car to director Shakti Soundar Rajan for the success of ‘Teddy’ starring Arya and Sayeesha. This is not the first time that a producer has gifted a car to a director. Let us take a look at some of the instances in the recent past where the directors received car as their gift.
P Virumandi – ‘Ka Pae Ranasingam’

Apart from the sensitive topics the story dealt with, the movie was also appreciated for the performances of the lead artistes. Overwhelmed by the response received for the film, producer KJR gifted a Maruti car to Virumandi.
Pradeep Ranganthan – ‘Comaali’
The movie which had Jayam Ravi and Kajal Agarwal in the lead role had a unique story line. The film attracted several sections of audiences to the theaters and went onto become of the highest grossing film in Ravi’s career. The film’s producer Isari K Ganesh gifted the director Pradeep Ranganthan a Honda car.
K R Prabhu – ‘LKG’
The political satire which had R J Balaji and Priya Anand in the lead was appreciated much for its humour element. The funny one liners in the movie became a instant hit among the audience. Isari Ganesh who bankrolled by the project gifted a Hyundai car to the director K R Prabhu.
Vignesh Shivan – ‘Thaana Serndha Kootam’
The movie which released in 2018 Pongal opened to decent reviews. Suriya played a fresh character in the movie which was instantly liked by the fans. The movie had a decent run in cinemas. Suriya, who produced the film under his home production, gifted a car to Vignesh Shivan.
Desingh Periyasamy – ‘Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithal’
‘Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithal’ producer Anto Joseph gifts a car as a wedding gift to its director Desingh and actress Niranjani. The heist thriller starred Dulquer Salmaan, RItu Varman, Rakshan and Niranjani Ahathian. The movie received rave reviews.
