Tamil Voice over Artist Mithran, talks about his preparations for dubbing Katappa from Baahubali: Crown of Blood: “I aimed to authentically capture the essence of Katappa, portraying his unwavering loyalty and discipline”
There are many events and stories in the world of Baahubali and Mahishmati that are unheard, unseen and unwitnessed. Disney + Hotstar and Graphic India recently launched animated series of one of India’s fan favorite film franchise, Hotstar Specials’ ‘Baahubali: Crown of Blood’, a story where Baahubali and Bhallaladeva will join hands to protect the great kingdom of Mahishmati and the throne against its greatest threat, the mysterious warlord, Raktadeva.

Some characters become immensely popular and are loved by fans worldwide. When dubbing these characters, it’s crucial to keep their voice close to the original actor’s, so it feels authentic. Tamil voice-over artist Mithran, who voices Katappa in the Tamil version of the series “Baahubali: Crown of Blood,” shares his preparations for voicing such a strong character.
Elaborating on the same, Tamil Voice over artist Mithran said, “I focused on embodying Katappa’s demeanor and mannerisms, reflecting his stoicism and dedication through subtle gestures and expressions. I engaged in extensive research to comprehend the cultural and historical context of the narrative, ensuring authenticity in my portrayal of Katappa’s character. Through this comprehensive preparation, I aimed to authentically capture the essence of Katappa, portraying his unwavering loyalty and discipline in a compelling and convincing manner on screen”.
