In a candid interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar has addressed the tragic Karur stampede that claimed multiple lives in September.
The actor called for a collective societal introspection, urging people to move away from the obsession with massive crowds at celebrity events.
Ajith stated that the responsibility for such incidents cannot be placed on a single individual. “That individual alone is not responsible, we are all responsible for it, and the media has a part to play in this,” he remarked, calling the incident a “collective failure”.
He noted that while actors endure great hardship for their fans’ love, excessive hero-worship that leads to disorder should be discouraged. He also specifically mentioned that practices like encouraging First-Day-First-Shows (FDFS) for crowds should be re-evaluated.
On the professional front, Ajith confirmed that the official announcement of his upcoming project with director Adhik Ravichandran is expected in January 2026.
