Legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam is returning to his roots with a pure romantic entertainer.
After considering several names like Dhanush and Silambarasan, the director has reportedly finalised Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi as the leads.
This movie marks the second collaboration between Vijay Sethupathi and Mani Ratnam after the 2017 multi-starrer ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’.
For Sai Pallavi, it is her long-awaited first project with the legendary director, a combination fans have been requesting for years. Described as a “soulful romantic drama” with strong emotional undercurrents, the film is backed by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies.
The film is slated to go on floors in March 2026 and is targeting a year-end release.
Music by the maestro A.R. Rahman is already in the early stages of composition, aiming for a classic Ratnam-Rahman soundtrack.
After the mixed response to his last venture ‘Thug Life’, industry insiders believe this return to the romance genre will be the director’s massive comeback.
