First Look of Hotstar Specials “Kenatha Kanom”, Starring Yogi Babu in the Lead Role, Launched
“Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu” and “Sathya Sodhanai” Fame Late Director Suresh Sangaiah’s Immortalised Work
Tamil cinema has always shared an inseparable bond with content-driven storytelling, as cinephiles consistently celebrate films rooted in realism. Actor Yogi Babu, known for his remarkable versatility, has carved a distinctive space for himself by seamlessly transitioning from rib-tickling comedy to compelling protagonist roles. These performances have resonated deeply with audiences, and now, he returns to captivate us once again with his upcoming film Kenatha Kanom, a Jio Hotstar presents, whose first look was unveiled today (February 19, 2025).
This occasion carries profound emotional significance, as the film’s director, Suresh Sangaiah, passed away recently. Revered for his exceptional directorial brilliance in Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu and Sathya Sodhanai, his works remain cherished milestones in the landscape of Indian cinema.
The first look of Kenathaa Kanom presents a grounded, rustic aesthetic that hints at a situational, character-driven, fun-filled drama rather than overt comedy. With Yogi Babu positioned at the center amidst a gathering of villagers captured in a moment of collective emotion, his folded-hands gesture and earnest expression suggest humor emerging organically from circumstances, confusion & desperation. The earthy color palette, layered composition, and rugged title design further reinforce the rural setting, indicating a narrative where comedy and drama intertwine through everyday chaos, community dynamics, and subtle absurdity.
While Yogi Babu essays the protagonist’s role, the rest of the star cast includes Lovelyn chandrasekhar, Ramakrishnan, Raichel Rabecca, George Mariyam, Mottai Rajendiran, Kavitha Barathi, Kalaipandiyan, Hello kandasamy and many others.
Nivas K Prasanna is composing the music, and V. Thiyagarajan is handling cinematography. R. Ramar is overseeing the editing, while P.L. Subentar is taking care of the art direction. Sudesh serves as the stunt director. P. Kathavarayan and T.P. Sasi Kumar are the Production Executives, with A.R. Amalraj as the Executive Producer. The film is produced by R.
