Sai Durgha Tej has announced a new film on his birthday, adding another project to his upcoming slate. Tentatively titled ‘SDT19’, the movie will mark the feature-film directorial debut of Teja Kakumanu, who is known for his acting roles, including appearances in the ‘Baahubali’ franchise.
The announcement comes as Sai Durgha Tej continues work on ‘Sambarala Yeti Gattu’, which is being prepared for a Sankranthi release. The actor has generally taken a selective approach to choosing projects, focusing on stories that offer opportunities to explore different characters and screen personas.
‘SDT19’ will be produced by Anil Sunkara under the AK Entertainments banner. According to the makers, Teja has developed a story specifically for Sai Durgha Tej, with the intention of presenting him in a different role from his previous outings.
Teja is familiar to audiences as an actor and has also worked behind the camera. He directed the popular web series ‘Save the Tigers’, which has completed its third season. The upcoming film will give him an opportunity to transition into directing a feature-length production.
Sai Durgha Tej reportedly connected with the film’s premise and the character envisioned for him, leading to his approval of the project. The makers expect the story to showcase a fresh side of the actor.
Meanwhile, Anil Sunkara is also producing another film that brings together Sharwanand and director Srinu Vaitla.
Regular shooting for Sai Durgha Tej’s new project is scheduled to begin this month. The production team is expected to reveal additional information about the cast, technical crew and storyline in the coming days.
