Keerthy Suresh-starrer ‘Dorothy’ is preparing for its Telugu theatrical release, with Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media bringing the Karthik Subbaraj-directed film to audiences across the Telugu states.
The film, written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, features Keerthy Suresh, Sananth and Rishikanth in key roles. After its Tamil theatrical run and appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival, the film’s team held a Telugu trailer launch event on September 30.
Speaking at the event, Rana recalled watching the film after Karthik Subbaraj approached him about releasing it. He said he went into the screening without knowing much about the story and was surprised by the turn the narrative took around the interval.
Rana said the film’s subject matter and the way it approaches issues that are not frequently discussed in public influenced his decision to support its Telugu release.
He also praised the performances of Sananth and Rishikanth, particularly the way their characters’ friendship forms an emotional part of the story.
For Karthik Subbaraj, the Telugu audience has been an important part of his career since the release of his debut film ‘Pizza’ in 2012. Speaking about the upcoming release, the filmmaker expressed hope that Telugu viewers would respond positively to ‘Dorothy’ as well.
The film is jointly produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain. ‘Dorothy’ reached theatres across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on October 2.
