‘Peddi’ arrives in theatres: Ram Charan’s most ambitious transformation faces its biggest test

One of the most anticipated Indian films of 2026, ‘Peddi’, starring Ram Charan and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, has finally hit the screens worldwide. After intense promotional activity, the rural sports drama now stands at the center of the Telugu film industry’s biggest box-office conversation of the year.

The film pairs Ram Charan with Janhvi Kapoor and features a supporting cast that includes Jagapathi Babu, Shiva Rajkumar, and Divyendu Sharma. Music has been composed by A.R. Rahman, adding another major attraction to the project.

Perhaps the strongest talking point surrounding ‘Peddi’ has been Ram Charan’s physical and emotional transformation. Director Buchi Babu Sana recently revealed that the actor underwent more than four months of specialized wrestling training under the coach associated with the acclaimed sports drama ‘Dangal’. The filmmaker described Charan as being in “beast mode” during production and noted that the actor continued filming physically demanding sequences despite injuries.

Industry observers view the film as one of Charan’s most challenging projects since the global success of ‘RRR’. Promotional materials have showcased the actor in a rugged rural avatar, combining the worlds of wrestling, cricket, and village pride in a story set against a distinctly local backdrop.
