Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and actor Pawan Kalyan has approached the Delhi High Court seeking an urgent order to protect his personality and publicity rights.
The plea was filed against major social media intermediaries, including Google and Meta, citing the persistent, unauthorized use of his name, image, and voice through AI-generated deepfakes, impersonation, and fake association content on various digital platforms and e-commerce sites.
The court instructed the intermediaries to treat Mr. Kalyan’s representation as a formal complaint under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, and act within seven days.
The High Court also directed Mr. Kalyan’s legal team to supply the specific URLs and links of the infringing content within 48 hours. The matter is scheduled for further hearing on December 22nd.
