Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ nears release as CBFC seeks final changes

After a delay of more than six months from its originally planned Pongal release, ‘Jana Nayagan’, starring Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, appears to be moving closer to theatres.

Sources indicate that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has completed another round of review and forwarded a fresh list of edits to the filmmakers. The production team is now working on the required revisions, with dubbing expected to begin soon.

If the certification process proceeds as planned, the film is likely to arrive in cinemas in the final week of July or the first week of August. Industry sources also expect the film to receive an A certificate.

KVN Productions’ business head, Suprith Mohan, confirmed that work is progressing according to schedule and expressed confidence about the targeted release window.

Originally slated for a January Pongal release, ‘Jana Nayagan’ encountered repeated certification delays. While the CBFC’s examining committee had initially recommended a U/A certificate after suggesting a few modifications, the film was later referred to a revising committee following complaints over certain scenes.

The project also faced another setback in April when portions of the film surfaced online before its release. Tamil Nadu’s Cyber Crime Wing launched an investigation into the leak and subsequently arrested multiple individuals in connection with the case.
