Ending weeks of speculation, Vijay Sethupathi has confirmed his collaboration with legendary director Mani Ratnam in a recent interview with Variety India.
This project will also star Sai Pallavi as the female lead, marking their first on-screen pairing.
The actor, who previously worked with Mani Ratnam in ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’ (2018), emphasized that this new venture will be “completely different” in tone and treatment.
“Repetition is death for me,” Sethupathi stated, adding that he avoids sequels and remakes to keep his “inner novice” alive.
The film is described as a soulful romantic drama that will feature the trademark emotional depth of a Mani Ratnam classic.
Pre-production is reportedly nearing completion, with the team targeting a year-end release.
This project adds to a packed calendar for both leads, as Sai Pallavi is also currently involved in the high-profile Ramayana and the upcoming D55 with Dhanush.
