Vijay set to become Tamil Nadu CM as guv hands him

TVK founder Vijay on Saturday evening met Tamil Nadu Governor RV Arlekar at Lok Bhavan after his party secured the majority mark to form the government.
The governor reportedly cancelled his Kerala trip and met Vijay, ending the suspense on Tamil Nadu government formation.
“The Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu has appointed Thiru C. Joseph Vijay as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and invited him to form the Ministry.
The Hon’ble Governor has directed the Chief Minister- designate to seek the vote of confidence of the Assembly on or before 13th May 2026.
The swearing-in ceremony will be held at Nehru Stadium, Chennai on 10th May 2026 at 10 A.M, “a press release from Raj Bhavan said.
According to sources, Vijay will hold with the General Administratiom, Home Ministry and Police Ministry, Sengottaiyan has been allocated PWD Ministry, Municipal Administration Ministry is allocated to Bussy Anand, CTR Nirmal Kumar had been allocated Electricity Ministry, Aadhav Arjuna is assigned Sports and Prohibition Ministry, Raj Mohan getd Adi Dravidar Welfare Ministry, Musthafa gets Minority Welfare Ministry, Arun Raj is allocated Registration and Commercial Taxes Ministry and Venkatraman is allocated School Education Department.
The Vijay-led TVK claimed ‘victory’ earlier in the day as senior party leader Aadhav Arjuna showed a letter of support from the VCK.
IUML, a DMK ally, also extended support to TVK, pushing its strength to 120, while the Tamil Nadu halfway mark is 118.
Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam won 108 seats on its own, emerging as the single-largest party in the election.
