V for Vijay Sethupathi, Variety – F’day Spl. Article by Naveen

Vijay Sethupathi is not someone new for multiple releases in a month. However, this September will be very special for the versatile actor as four of his movies will be released this month.
While the actor’s upcoming flick ‘Laabam’ will be released in theaters, “Tughlaq Durbar’ will have a direct Television premiere on Sun TV, ‘Annabelle Sethupathi’ will be released on Disney+Hotstar. ‘Kadaisi Vivasayi’ is also expected to have an OTT release

Tughlaq Durbar:

Helmed by Delhi Prasad Deenadayalan, Vijay Sethupathi plays the lead role in ‘Tughlaq Durbar’. The movie also stars actor Parthiban in a pivotal role in this political thriller. The cast of the film also includes actors Raashi Khanna, Manjima Mohan, Karunakaran and Bagavathi Perumal in other significant roles. The film has music by Govind Vasantha. ‘Tughlaq Durbar’ is bankrolled by Lalit Kumar under the banner Seven Screen Studio. The film is scheduled to be premiered directly through Sun TV on 10 September 2021, coinciding with the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, and will be streamed on Netflix, the following day.

Annabelle Sethupathi:

“Annabelle Sethupathi’ is directed by Deepak Sundarrajan and marks the first collaboration of Vijay Sethupathi with Taapsee. The flick is touted to be a multi-lingual fantasy-comedy.
Taapsee Pannu will be seen in a dual role as a Queen and modern-day burglar. Vijay Sethupathi will feature as a ‘romantic king’. Produced by Sudhan Sundaram and Jayaram of Passion Studios, the film will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam on Disney+Hotstar on 17 September.

Laabam:

Directed by late SP Jananathan, ‘Laabam’ is a socio-political thriller. Though there was speculation that the film will release on an OTT platform, Vijay Sethupathi quashed these rumours and said that ‘Laabam’ will only release in theatres. Shruti Haasan plays the female lead in the film.
The movie is now all set to be released in theaters on 9 September. The film went on floors in 2020 and the makers were keen to release it in theatres in May, 2020. However, it was postponed due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. Laabam revolves around corporate greed and how it plunders natural resources. Shruti Haasan plays a journalist in the film.

Kadaisi Vivasayi:

‘Kadaisi Vivasayi’, the rural drama directed by M Manikandan (of Kaaka Muttai fame), in which the actor appears in an extended cameo is also set to be released in September. It was earlier said that the movie will be released on the OTT platform. However, according to sources, the flick might get a theaterical release.
The plot revolves around a village that is organising a festival for its deity. They need some rice that was grown in the village to offer to the deity, but realise no one is into farming there. So, they end up at the doors of a small farmer, the lone farmer in the village. What happens after that is what the film is all about
