After working in several Tollywood films, top filmmakers from the Telugu movie industry are stepping into Kollywood and collaborating with leading stars. Here’s a look at popular Telugu directors who are working with Tamil actors.
Vamshi Paidipally
Vamshi has already directed a Tamil film with the bilingual Thozha, starring Karthi and Nagarjuna. Now, he is directing Vijay in his new film titled ‘Varisu’. The first single from the movie titled ‘Ranjithame’ was released recently and became a chartbuster instantly. Rashmika Mandhana plays the female lead in the movie. Music for the movie is by Thaman. The movie is slated to be released during Pongal 2023.
Venky Atluri
The director of Tollywood hits like ‘Tholi Prema’, ‘Mr. Majnu’ and ‘Rang De’ is now directing Dhanush in ‘Vaathi’ (‘Sir’ in Telugu), a Tamil-Telugu bilingual, which has Dhanush and Samyuktha Menon in the lead roles. The film marks Dhanush’s maiden straight Telugu film. The teaser of the film was impressive. The first single from the movie ‘Vaa Vaathi’ composed by G V Prakash got a good reception from the fans.
Sekhar Kammula
The acclaimed Tollywood filmmaker, who is also a National Award-winner, will be making his Tamil debut with a trilingual (Tamil, Telugu and Hindi) with Dhanush, which is expected to go on floors in 2023. Sekhar Kammula narrated the basic plot to Dhanush and got his nod. Sekhar Kammula is working on the script and he is yet to lock the final draft. Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP will produce this film.
Anudeep KV
The filmmaker behind last year’s comedy blockbuster Jathi Ratnalu directed Sivakarthikeyan in a comedy entertainer titled ‘Prince’. The movie revolves around a teacher from Pondicherry falling in love with a British teacher from his school, which attracts opposition from others in the town. Maria Ryaboshapka played the femaled lead in the movie which also had Sathyaraj in a prominent role.
Kalyan Krishna Kurasala
Telugu director Kalyan Krishna Kurasala has been signed on by top Tamil production house Studio Green to do a film.
His recent release ‘Bangarraju’, a Telugu film starring Nagarjuna Akkineni, Naga Chaitanya, Ramya Krishnan has received amazing response from the audience. The film has also been raking in the numbers at the box office.
