The official announcement of the sequel to ‘Soodhu Kavvum’ was made recently. The first installment was directed by Nalan Kumarasamy and had Vijay Sethupathi playing the lead role. However, the sequel will have a new team with Mirchi Shiva playing the lead role. This is not the first time that a sequel is made with a completely different cast. Let us take a look at some of the prominent sequels that have a different cast.
‘Chandramukhi 2’:
The 2005 film ‘Chandramukhi,’ which starred Rajinikanth, was a tremendous hit and successfully ran in theatres for more than 300 days. After 17 years, director P Vasu decided to make ‘Chandramukhi 2’, and Raghava Lawrence will play the protagonist. Kangana Ranaut will be playing the female lead in the movie. However, Vadivelu has been retained from the original.
‘Pizza 2’:
The lead part in Karthik Subbaraj’s first film, ‘Pizza,’ was played by Vijay Sethupathi, and the suspense thriller genuinely shocked fans and went on to become a tremendous hit. After that, Pizza”s producers decided to turn the movie into a franchise, and “Pizza 2” and ‘Pizza 3,’ each with a different subtitle, were then released. The franchise was made more interesting by the fact that each installment had a different director and cast. ‘Pizza II’ had Ashok Selvan and Sanchita Shetty in the lead roles. ‘Pizza 3’ is yet to be released and has Ashwin Kakumanu as the lead.

H Vinoth made his directorial debut with “Sathuranga Vettai,” which is based on a number of real-life scams. Natty played the lead role in the movie and was highly received by the public. After that, the producers decided to film a sequel with a new director and cast, and the lead actors in ‘Sathuranga Vettai 2’ are Aravind Swamy and Trisha.
