Actress Sai Pallavi is reportedly set to take on the monumental role of legendary Carnatic vocalist M.S. Subbulakshmi in an upcoming biopic.
Sources suggest that the film, which will explore the icon’s musical journey, spiritual life, and social contributions, will be helmed by director Gowtham Tinnanuri (known for Jersey).
While an official announcement from the production house (rumored to be Geetha Arts) is awaited, the industry buzz is that Sai Pallavi’s expressive acting and natural grace make her the perfect choice to portray the Bharat Ratna awardee.
The project is currently in the pre-production stage, focusing on extensive research into Subbulakshmi’s early life in Madurai and her breakthrough at the Madras Music Academy.
Filming is expected to begin in the second half of 2026, with Oscar-winner A.R. Rahman rumored to be composing the music.
