The highly anticipated sequel, ‘Jailer 2’ , starring Superstar Rajinikanth, is now rumoured to be arriving in August 2026, shifting from its earlier speculated June release date.
Reports suggest the makers are eyeing August 14, 2026, a strategic date coinciding with a holiday weekend, similar to the original Jailer’s successful August release.
The sequel, which is currently in production and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is set to expand the Jailer universe, with actress Vidya Balan recently joining the cast in a pivotal role.
Cameo appearances from stars like Mohanlal and Mithun Chakraborty are also anticipated.
The delay is attributed to the extensive international shooting schedule planned for key action sequences, requiring more time for visual effects.
Nelson is reportedly planning to make this film a direct continuation, retaining the dark humour and stylized action that made the first installment a hit.
