Veteran music composer Deva, fondly known as the ‘King of Gaana,’ was recently given a high honour during his visit to Australia.
Deva received a special felicitation and high-level welcome at the Australian Parliament from the Australia Tamil Arts and Culture Development Centre.
As a mark of respect for his immense contribution to Tamil cinema and the cultural identity of Tamils worldwide, the composer was given the unique privilege of sitting on the Chairperson’s seat in the Parliament and was also presented with an honourable sceptre.
Photos and videos of the event have gone viral, with many calling it a historic and proud moment for Tamil music. Deva is widely credited for popularizing the ‘Gaana’ genre in mainstream Kollywood music.
