‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa’ directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, starring Silambarasan aka STR and Trisha in the lead roles has completed 15 years. Fans have been revisiting their favourite moments, sharing memorable scenes and songs on social media. One of the key aspects which worked out in the movie’s favour is that the lead pair does not end up together in the movie. ‘VTV’ is not the only movie in which Trisha played a role where she doesn’t get married to her love interest. Let us take a look at some of the movies in which Trisha does not get married to her lover.
’96’:
’96’ is a romantic drama starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan in the lead roles of Ram and Jaanu, two high school sweethearts from the 1996 batch meeting again at a reunion, 22 years after their initial parting. Even though Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha are deeply in love from their school days, due to unavoidable circumstances Trisha gets married to another person.
‘Yennai Arinthal’:
This action thriller, helmed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, revolved around an honest police officer named Sathyadev (Ajith), who tries to protect a young woman from a vengeful criminal. The film was also talked about for the sizzling onscreen chemistry between Trisha as Hemanika and Ajith. Trisha’s look in the film, too, went viral. The actress, who played a dancer in the film, stunned in her look. Trish gets murdered in the movie before the day of her marriage with Ajith.
‘Mankatha’:
Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the plot revolved around a heist involving cricket betting money. Trisha played Sanjana, Vinayak’s (Ajith) girlfriend, who is tricked by Vinayak, who only pretended to be in love with her. ‘Mankatha’ marked Ajith’s 50th film and was a smashing hit.
‘Kodi’:
The story majorly revolves around twin brothers (both played by Dhanush) – a timid Anbu and a daring, ambitious Kodi – and an aspiring, ruthless politician Rudhra (Trisha), who would go to any extent to fulfill her dreams. However, there arises a situation when Kodi and Rudhra, who are in a relationship, contest each other for an assembly seat in their constituency. Eventually Rudra killa Anbu to fulfil her dream to become a successful politician.
‘Mounam Pesiyadhey’:
Gautham (Suriya) runs a restaurant where he frequently beats up errant customers. His violent tendencies extend to his deep hatred for women, which softens up somewhat after a young girl Sandhya (Trisha) flirts incessantly with him. He is drawn to her, only to find out she is already engaged. Trisha finally ends up marrying the person who she is engaged to. It is later revealed that it was Laila who was actually flirting with Suriya.
‘Manasellam’:
Malar (Trisha) saves Bala (Srikanth) from an accident and soon they are in love. But her brothers take her back to Chennai, as her sister had already eloped with someone. The brothers does not want her to commit the same mistake and make her promise that she will only marry someone of their choice. Then there is another secret that nobody knows – Malar is suffering from some brain disease and will die soon. Bala comes to stay opposite her house to see and make her happy till the end. Malar’s health condition worsens, and she gets admitted to hospital with minimal chances of survival. Bala leaves the hospital crying as he does not want to see Malar die in front of him. The movie ends there.
