Meena, Roja, Swathi recall fond memories of Vijay

Actresses Meena, Roja and Swathi have shared heartfelt memories and words of appreciation for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay as his final film, ‘Jana Nayagan’, reached theatres.

Meena watched ‘Jana Nayagan’ in theatres on Friday and praised the film as an “amazing, awesome entertainer.” Calling it an emotional moment, she said she would dearly miss seeing Vijay on the big screen, as the film marks his last appearance before devoting himself fully to politics.

Directed by H. Vinoth, ‘Jana Nayagan’ serves as Vijay’s farewell to cinema ahead of his full-time political career. Although the film was originally planned for a Pongal release, it was delayed for several months before finally arriving in theatres in July.

Actress Roja also recalled an interaction with Vijay during the shooting of the 2011 film ‘Kaavalan’, in which she played Asin’s mother. She revealed that Vijay was initially surprised by her decision to take on a mother’s role, making her rethink the direction of her career. According to Roja, his reaction prompted her to step away from films for a period. Looking back now, she says she feels far more confident about portraying mature characters and is ready to embrace such roles again.

Meanwhile, actress Swathi revisited memories from the early days of her career by sharing throwback photographs with Vijay on social media. She described him as her first hero, recalling that she made her acting debut opposite him in ‘Deva’ before working with him again in ‘Vasantha Vaasal’ and ‘Selvaa’.

Congratulating Vijay on ‘Jana Nayagan’, Swathi wished the film grand success and reflected on his remarkable journey from a young actor to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. She praised his perseverance, determination and resilience, saying his rise to the state’s highest office is a testament to years of hard work and dedication.
