The makers of actor Manikandan’s next film have unveiled its title as ‘Makkal Kaavalan’ along with a first-look poster featuring the actor in the role of a police officer.
Produced by filmmaker Pa. Ranjith under the Neelam Studios banner, the film is directed by debutant Santhosh Kumar and is described as an action drama exploring power, inequality and social conflict.
Sharing his thoughts on the project, Manikandan said the film’s honest storytelling and unique narrative convinced him to be part of it. He added that the story is both intense and relevant to contemporary society.
Director Santhosh Kumar said the film draws from real-life experiences and examines how systems of power create inequalities. At its heart, he said, the story follows an honest man trying to uphold his principles while navigating a corrupt system.
According to the makers, the film traces the journey of an ordinary individual whose fight for dignity gradually transforms him into an unlikely leader.
The ensemble cast includes Vaagai Chandrasekar, A. Venkatesh, R.K. Vijaymurugan, Shanmugam Muthusamy, Sabumon, Unni Maya, Divya Sripada, Jenson Dhivakar, Lallu, Gemini Mani and Raghu.
The technical team includes music composer Nivas K. Prasanna, cinematographer Pratheepan Selvaratnam, editor Arul Moses, production designer Pappanadu C. Uthayakumar and stunt choreographer Don Ashok. The film is produced by Aditi Anand in association with Birla Studios.
