Filmmaker Mani Ratnam has begun production on his next feature, with the first schedule currently underway in Kolkata.
The yet-to-be-titled film stars Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi in lead roles, bringing together two of Indian cinema’s most celebrated performers. While Vijay Sethupathi has previously worked with Mani Ratnam, the project marks the director’s first collaboration with Sai Pallavi.
Visuals from the shooting location, including the iconic Howrah Bridge, have surfaced online, giving fans a glimpse of the cast and crew at work. The film is expected to blend romance and drama, a genre that has produced several memorable works in Mani Ratnam’s career.
The project is being jointly backed by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, with Academy Award-winning composer A.R. Rahman once again reuniting with the filmmaker for the soundtrack.
The announcement has generated considerable excitement among cinema lovers, as the combination of Mani Ratnam, Vijay Sethupathi, Sai Pallavi and A.R. Rahman is regarded as one of the most anticipated collaborations currently in Indian cinema.
