Madras High Court sets aside order on Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’

A Division Bench of the Madras High Court has set aside a previous single-judge order that directed the CBFC to grant a ‘UA 16+’ certificate to the film.
The Bench, led by Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava, observed that the single judge had erred by deciding on the merits of the content without allowing the Censor Board sufficient time to file a counter-affidavit.

The case has been remanded back to the single judge for a fresh hearing. The CBFC has raised concerns over scenes allegedly depicting foreign powers creating disturbances and the portrayal of the armed forces.

As this legal battle continues, the release of Vijay’s final film before his full-time political entry remains stalled, causing a ripple of disappointment among fans who were expecting a Pongal debut.
