Kamal Haasan was recently invited to be a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the organization behind the Oscars.
Upon receiving this honor, he made a statement expressing his gratitude and humility.
He took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his delight, stating: “I am honoured to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. This recognition is not mine alone, it belongs to the Indian film community and the countless storytellers who shaped me. Indian cinema has so much to offer the world, and I look forward to deepening our engagement with the global film fraternity.”
He also congratulated his fellow artists and technicians who have joined the prestigious Academy alongside him.
This invitation is a significant milestone for Kamal Haasan, acknowledging his remarkable contributions to world cinema over his six-decade career.
As a member, he will have the opportunity to vote for his favorite films, actors, and technicians at the upcoming 98th Academy Awards, scheduled for March 16, 2026.
