Actor Jiiva is set to collaborate with Malayalam filmmaker Muhammad Musthafa for his upcoming project, provisionally named ‘Jiiva 49’. The film was officially launched with a traditional pooja ceremony on Monday.
The project will feature Malayalam actor Nimisha Sajayan and Angel Maria, who is associated with ‘Vaazha 2’, in significant roles. Jiiva is producing the film in partnership with Sudhan Sundaram of Passion Studios.
The makers are yet to reveal further information about the film’s plot, technical team and expected release.
Musthafa, who began his career as an actor before moving into direction, attracted attention with his debut feature ‘Kappela’. His work earned him the Kerala State Award for Best Debut Director. He later directed ‘Mura’, a crime drama starring Suraj Venjaramoodu and Hridhu Haroon.
Beyond filmmaking, Musthafa has also received recognition for his acting. His performance in ‘Ain’ earned him a special mention at the national level.
Jiiva, meanwhile, has been expanding his collaborations with filmmakers from the Malayalam industry. Earlier this year, he worked with director Nithish Sahadev on ‘Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil’. The film performed better than expected at the box office, helping revive momentum in the actor’s career after a series of disappointing releases.
With ‘Jiiva 49’, the actor is embarking on another cross-industry collaboration. More details about the film are expected to be announced in the coming days.
